A letter to John

Dear John

The only thing I ever really regret in life is the things I did not do. One of those was that I never told you how important you were in my life. You were my big brother and I looked up to you. You took me fishing and were so patient when I ran around having fun instead of patiently casting my line into the water.

You introduced me to Mad magazine and turned me into a punster (something others may curse you for). You let me hangout with you when you were with your friends and never seemed embarrassed to have this 11 year old kid running around poking into everything.

You always had a twinkle of humour in your eyes and a ready witticism for every occasion. I was planning to visit you this summer when I travel south but you have already moved on. I hope you get this note John. It means a lot to me. You were my brother and I loved you but I never told you that and I will always be sorry that I did not.
