How hard was it to leave?

So if you wonder just how hard it was for me to leave Hawaii here is just one photo of one sunset on Waikiki. I will be retrofitting some of my blog entries with photos later this week.

Saying goodbye to sand and surf...

I went for a final swim at Waikiki beach this morning. I almost avoided rinsing off the salt and sand so I could take it home with me but I realized I have wonderful memories and also photos to remind me.

One of the best parts of my time here was staying in a hostel just five minutes stroll from the beach. I met some really interesting people from quite a few countries. A couple of nights back a young couple from England popped into to common area with a cake. They were leaving the next morning an just wanted to have a group goodbye. It turned out that it was also the birthday of a young guy from Australia. So we had an impromptu party with cake and wine and beer.

Most of us will likely never connect again but it really does not matter because we shared a moment that will stay with us.

Now my bags are packed. I have checked out from the hostel and I am waiting for the airport shuttle. Mahalo Hawaii!
